The Nike Blazer Gets A Comme Des Garcons x Naomi Osaka Treatment
22 year US Open Champion, Naomi Osaka is the highest-paid female athlete in the world (May 2020, Forbes List) and also the first Japanese player to hold the top ranks in the singles.
Apart from her achievements in tennis, through her recent collaboration with Japanese label Comme des Garçons and Nike, Osaka aims to make her mark in the sneaker world with a new rendition of the Nike Blazer Mid, as well.
The classic Nike silhouette for the collaborations has been inspired by both Osaka and CDG's Japanese heritage and maintains a simplistic overall design, paying ode to the minimal and clean Japanese aesthetics.
The entire white upper of the sneaker is covered in a light grey textured print that combines Osaka’s full name and the label CDG in the brand's signature blocky Helvetica font.
The sneaker also features Osaka’s signature in black and the text “Home Is Where The Heart Is” in her handwriting.
The upper of the shoe is constructed with white canvas and displays a traditional white swoosh. The heel tab has been finished in leather and grey suede overlays and the exposed foam on the tongue, give the shoe a distinct look.
The release details and additional pictures of the collaboration have not yet been revealed, but one can expect a drop in the coming few weeks.
