NBA 2K21 Pays Tribute To Kobe

The NBA pays tribute to Kobe’s legacy with the new 2K21 Mamba Forever Edition.

NBA 2K21 has officially announced that the late legend, Kobe Bryant will be the face of two special Mamba Forever Edition covers to celebrate his legacy and pursuit of victory.

Each cover features one of his two jersey numbers, #24 & #8 covering the span of his lauded career. The next gen cover highlights his #24 jersey during his last game against Utah Jazz where he scored a roaring 60 points in April of 2016. Alongside Kobe, the covers will also feature Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard and Pelicans forward, Zion Williamson.

For 20 seasons, Kobe showed the world what possibilities lie ahead when remarkable talent blends with an absolute devotion to winning. With legendary, record breaking accomplishments, he has been one of the most extraordinary players in the history of the game.

He will be remembered most for inspiring people around the world to pick up a basketball and compete to the very best of their ability. He was generous with the wisdom he acquired and saw it as his mission to share it with future generations of players, taking special delight in passing down his love of the game to Gianna.

This next generation game features extensive improvements throughout - from varying game modes to graphics and gameplay along with online community features and might prove to be a monumental leap forward for the franchise. The game publishers are also planning to connect the current and next-gen versions via a Shared VC wallet for the same console generation (PS4 - PS5 & Xbox One - Xbox Series X) that will allow players to carry over all their accumulated points, tokens and cards to the upgraded console as well.

Each of our cover athletes represents different eras of the game of basketball – Damian Lillard dominates the court today, Zion Williamson is a standard-bearer for the next generation of NBA superstar and what more could be said about Kobe? Three athletes representing the current, future, and storied history of the game. Today’s exciting announcement is just the first of many for NBA 2K21; it’s going to be a huge year for basketball fans and NBA 2K gamers.

Being on the cover of NBA 2K has been a dream since I was a kid and to be the first NBA 2K21 cover athlete for the next-generation of gaming is really special. Since the day I joined Team 2K, I’ve wanted to make an impact on basketball culture both on and off the court, and being the cover athlete for NBA 2K21 on next-gen consoles lets me do that. I can’t wait to be part of this global phenomenon and hoop with all the ballers out there on NBA 2K21.
