Dior’s pre-fall show in Miami unveiled one of the biggest collaborations of the decade - Dior x Jordan. The luxury giant collaborated with the sneaker brand for the release of limited-edition Air Jordan 1 High and Low's along with a Ready-To-Wear capsule collection and accessories.
The sneaker is now available for in-store pickup here!
The highly anticipated sneakers were first seen on Travis Scott’s Instagram, adding to the hype of the official release. According to Kim Jones, the artistic director of Dior men’s collections, Jordan and Dior are both prodigies in their respective fields, and bringing them together is a whole new experience. The collaboration coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Jordan 1 silhouette which makes the release all the more special.
This Air Jordan 1 strikes a perfect balance between luxury, style, and comfort. The shoes, which have been crafted in Italy, feature white and the signature Dior grey leather while the traditional swoosh has been redesigned into an oblique that has been monogrammed with the luxury brand's logo.
The familiar wings logo that says “Air Jordan” now reads “Air Dior”. The shoes also sport metal jump-man hang tags and a translucent outsole that reads Dior on the right base and has the “Air Dior” logo on the left.
The Jordan 1 High's will be limited to a total 8,500 pairs and the Low's will be limited to 4,500 pairs with each pair uniquely numbered along the ankle lining. This release is one of the most expensive Air Jordan 1 and retails at a whopping $2,200 (Rs. 1,65,000 approx.)
The capsule collection is a mix of the timeless silhouettes from previous Dior and Jordan collections and gives the classic sports style a new rendition. The relaxed and minimalistic collection includes jackets, graphic sweatshirts, tracksuit sets and hoodies all featuring the same grey colour to pay homage to Dior’s signature shade. The modified “Air Dior” logo is also prevalent throughout the collection.
The collection was set to release earlier this year, but due to the Pandemic had to unfortunately be postponed. However, the brands have officially announced a July release on a first come first serve basis. The sneakers are now available via a dedicated microsite and those interested will first have to register and reserve the preferred model, size and pickup location. The sneakers are going to be exclusively available at select Dior pop-ups and showrooms and people who have previously registered will be called to the store to make their purchase while stocks last. The Air Dior apparel collection is set to release in Dior stores exclusively in July.
