The recent collaboration between Ermenegildo Zegna and Fear of God is where the fusion of traditional elegance and leisurewear finds one of its purest expressions.

The collection “Fear of God exclusively for Ermenegildo Zegna,” debuted earlier this year in March in Paris and was finally made available on September 25th. A collaboration that was formulated by Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo and Ermenegildo Zegna’s artistic director, Alessandro Sartori, the collection is a creative conversation between composition and textures.

Bonding over their mutual desire to rewrite the rules masculine sophistication, the two created a collection to seal the gap between cultural acceptance and traditional tailoring, to give rise to a new era of formal dressing.

The combination of two very different realities, creates a hybrid between Southern California’s soft and essential fit of skater silhouettes favoured by Lorenzo and Zegna’s impeccable tailoring with superlative material and polished finishes.

The contemporary collection, cross-references Milan and Los Angeles via boxy bombers in Nappa leather, minimalist topcoats in brushed wool and gabardine and refined silk tracksuits in a matte finish.

Pleated tapered trousers, oversized short sleeve shirts, patch-pocket details, broad shouldered single-button jackets, roomy overshirts all exude a sleek, modern sensibility.

The collection was designed in the light of luxury devoid of any rigidity. The suit jackets sport no lapels and the pockets have been repositioned on the hips for a more linear appearance. The trousers take a more joggers-like approach with a cummerbund waist band and Zegna’s logo in Fear of God’s signature font can be seen embossed on the backs of the bomber jackets.

Designed entirely in a palette if neutral grays, browns, cream and black, the collection offers a laid-back luxe sentiment, focusing on the shapes, colours and fabrics juxtaposed with sculptured timeless silhouettes. It is a collection to be enjoyed by both men and women, but mainly targets the future of menswear.
