Festivities are incomplete without the right fit setting your vibe aglow. Ace the festive looks this year with our round up of Xmas themed essentials through FTC's Christmas Starter Pack series!
With the onset of the holiday season comes a wave of festivities, bringing forth the need of just the right fit. While one might be aware of all the basic winter essentials, here are a few of our favourites that make for a complete festive look, right from cozy, ugly sweaters and holiday kicks to matching pyjamas sets and fuzzy socks - this is the FTC Christmas Starter-Pack.
One of the most obvious necessities that scream the Christmas spirit is the concept of ugly Christmas sweaters. Born out of the industrial race that began in the 50s, the apparel was first known as “Jingle Bell Sweaters”, when the markets started commercialising festivals - Christmas being one of the most common choices.
The trend started with a load of wonderful warm sweaters, which soon transcended to the silver screen in exaggerated forms, with tinsel and real bells and ornaments sewn on them. As soon as the apparel became mainstream, it left behind the old time charm and picked onto the nuances of the 80s and 90s, thus finally coming to be known as Ugly Christmas Sweaters.
Seeing the popularity of the same, many brands, from fast fashion tycoons to high fashion conglomerates have taken the trend in and given a new design perspective to the same.
When it comes to footwear needs this festive season, the right pick is a sure-shot way to tie-in any look you have in mind, and we've rounded up a few of our go to silhouettes this season.
A slightly controversial pick, but definitely a warm and über comfortable option, is that of UGGs. Known to have come into existence in the early 1800s, Australian shepherds devised these “Uggs” from sheepskin and leather to prevent the harsh impact of the cold weather.
The concept and the design was later picked up and commercialised for the masses by several Australian shoe companies, and thus began the frenzy for the UGG boots which by a large number of people was also referred to as "basic" or downright "ugly".
However For all the hypebeasts who stray far away from the minimalistic conventions of UGGs, don't worry - we've got you covered! Check out this years holiday themed releases that are bound to keep your fit feeling fresh and festive.
Starting off the roundup is Nike's "Nordic" Pack, consisting of a festive spin on 3 of the most coveted silhouettes- Air Force 1, Air Max 90 and Blazer Mid '77. Clad in the spirit of Christmas, the sneakers feature "University Red” and “Dark Atomic Teal" colourways with accents of white and various motifs like snowflakes and fleece lining! The entire packed dropped in the first week of December on SNKRS app.
In collaboration with The Gremlins, Adidas has released a festive iteration of the iconic Stan Smith silhouette, called Gremlins x adidas Stan Smith "Christmas Monster". Clad in a brown and off white colourway, the sneaker boasts of faux fur all over the surface, with literal eyes in the place of the heel tab. The warm yet fun sneaker released on December 19th through adidas's online store.
Following the festivities, Converse also released a rather cozy rendition of the Converse Chuck 70, covered in soft white fleece all over along with red and green foxing stripes on the sole and standard black branding. The sneaker first became available on November 4th through END Clothing's website, and is also expected to hit the Converse website very soon!
Another option that great for all the comfort lovers out there are fur trimmed or fleece slip-ons for this winter, embellished with staple motifs like snowflakes and reindeers to bring on the festive cheer with a touch of warmth!
Amongst all the major essentials, don't forget to add a little more fun to your winter fits with cozy Argyle and fuzzy socks. A pattern born in the land of the Scots, the comfort, versatility and festive factor of the pattern led to the mass popularity of the same, thus also becoming a festive necessity in very little time. Adding a festive cheer to your hosiery, argyle patterned socks are a sure-fire way to amp up the drip quotient of your favourite kicks this season.
From curling up on the sofa with your favourite Christmas read to Home Alone movie marathons with left over pie - fuzzy socks are an essential that will keep you warm and feeling cozy all winter long.
Come Christmas and the gram is filled with people posing in matching pyjamas, particularly sporting flannel and festive prints. Coincidental? We tell you, not! A tradition evolving from the West, several families wear coordinating, holiday themed PJ sets, sharing hot cocoa, Christmas banter and presents with each other.
This style-statement has also caught up with the rest of the world, leading to a definite spike in the popularity of plaid night suits, and charming pyjama sets with Xmas themed prints and designs. What are some of your Christmas essentials this festive season?
